NY mayoral candidates address sanctuary, Trump and religious hatred at interfaith forum
Briefly

At an interfaith forum held at St. John the Divine Cathedral, New York City's religious leaders engaged with mayoral candidates to discuss key issues such as sanctuary city policies, the influence of Trump, and combating religious hatred. Organized by a coalition of faith-based groups, the event provided a platform for candidates to articulate their plans to protect vulnerable populations. Only four candidates participated. The forum stemmed from weekly faith leader meetings aimed at reflecting on current political challenges and fostering civic engagement within the community.
It was important for us to show up tonight and make sure that mayoral candidates heard from faith leaders on what matters to our communities.
Faith is an important part of the civic fabric of New York, and it's a critical time in the life of the city.
