Police Officer Sorffly Davius, a 12-year veteran of the NYPD, died on Friday following a medical episode while deployed to Kuwait with the 42nd Infantry Division of the U.S. Army National Guard. Davius joined the NYPD in 2014 and was assigned to the 79th Precinct in Brooklyn's Bedford-Stuyvesant. He served in the Army National Guard, achieving the rank of major. City officials, including Mayor Mamdani and Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch, mourned his loss. Governor Kathy Hochul described him as a devoted husband, father, and citizen soldier.
