NYPD sends cops to 'sensitive locations' over possible blowback from U.S. attacks on Iran
"The NYPD is closely monitoring events in Iran and the Middle East and coordinating with our federal and international partners. The additional patrols were mobilized out of an "abundance of caution." Spots getting extra protection include the Iranian embassy in Midtown and "diplomatic, cultural, religious and other relevant sites" throughout the city."
"While there are no credible threats at this time, our top priority is keeping New Yorkers safe. Port Authority facilities in the past have been prime targets. The Port Authority Police Department similarly increased deployment of tactical patrols and heavy weapons teams at all area airports, the Port Authority Bus Terminal in Midtown and other agency-run locations."
"Our objective is to defend the American people by eliminating imminent threats from the Iranian regime, a vicious group of very hard, terrible people. He accused the country's "wicked, radical dictatorship" of waging a decades-long "campaign of bloodshed (and) mass murder" against the United States and other nations, including Israel."
The NYPD increased patrols at sensitive locations throughout New York City in response to U.S. and Israeli military operations against Iran, operating out of an abundance of caution despite no credible threats. Protected sites include the Iranian embassy in Midtown and diplomatic, cultural, and religious locations. Governor Hochul deployed state police to similar facilities statewide. The Port Authority Police enhanced tactical patrols and heavy weapons teams at airports, the Port Authority Bus Terminal, and other facilities, noting these locations have historically been targets. President Trump announced major combat operations called "Operation Epic Fury," stating the objective is defending Americans by eliminating threats from the Iranian regime.
