Major Sorffly Davius, a New York Police Department officer who joined in 2014 and served at the 79th Precinct in Brooklyn, died Friday from a medical incident while deployed to Camp Buehring in Kuwait. Davius was part of the 42nd Infantry Division supporting Operation Epic Fury. New York Governor Kathy Hochul and Mayor Zohran Mamdani praised his service to both his country and New York City, describing him as a devoted husband and father. U.S. Central Command confirmed his death Sunday. Camp Buehring, a logistics hub and staging area for U.S. forces in the Middle East established over 20 years ago, has been targeted by Iran during recent military operations.
