The NYC Industrial Plan allows New York City residents to contribute their insights through a survey aimed at shaping the city's infrastructure. Set to finalize in late 2025, the Plan focuses on fostering a modern and sustainable industrial economy across the five boroughs. Community feedback, particularly regarding transportation and industrial site improvements, will guide the development, with consistent reviews every eight years. Unlike the broader 'City of Yes' initiative, this plan emphasizes localized recommendations to address specific community needs.
Infrastructure is a big issue. That's why we're always against density. We don't have the infrastructure. We don't have the roads, and that would have to be part of the plan. Public transportation would have to be part of the plan, said Tommy Barlotta, chairperson of Board 3.
The great thing about the Industrial Plan is that we actually are going to be developing fairly localized recommendations, said Andrew Jones, City Planning Department Senior Planning Team Leader.
