Uptown Portion of Hudson River Greenway Closed For Another Month - Streetsblog New York City
Briefly

The Hudson River Greenway closure due to a sinkhole between Dyckman and 181st streets in Manhattan has been extended for a month, raising safety concerns among cyclists. This stretch has seen multiple closures in recent years, pushing cyclists onto Broadway, an unsafe and hilly detour. Cyclists and community advocates are calling for immediate safe alternate routes, despite the Parks Department planning to explore long-term solutions through a new capital project study. Concerns about the existing infrastructure's effectiveness persist, highlighting a need for urgent responsiveness from the administration.
"That's not a detour, it goes to a different place, up a whole bunch of hills, it's a different route," Dave Thom, one of the principal organizers of the Inwood Owners Coalition.
In March, Parks initiated a 12-month Capital Project Scoping Development study to explore engineering fixes to eliminate future sinkholes, according to a Parks representative.
