Objections to 'extremely pungent' Chinese restaurant's residence in Woolwich block
Briefly

Forbes Apartments, part of the Royal Arsenal Riverside development, is in the spotlight as Jincheng Alley aims to open a new location. The application for a premises licence included provisions for alcohol sales and music. While the police and environmental health raised no objections, residents expressed concerns about delivery traffic and potential odors. Legal representation for Jincheng emphasized that the development is designed for such commercial use, asserting that the restaurant is planned regardless of the licence. Measures to manage operations and customer flow were also outlined to alleviate residents' concerns.
The application sought the granting of a licence for the on and off-sale of alcohol and the playing of recorded music daily between 9am and 10pm.
Marcus Lavell stated that this entire new-build development is geared around servicing the ground floor commercial units, with the expectation that it would include a restaurant.
With a licence, there will be shorter operating hours, greater controls on staff movement, customer management, and a commitment to a dispersal and external management plan.
The primary customers for the proposed restaurant are expected to be the residents of Forbes Apartments.
