Running for a cause: Climate at the RBC Brooklyn Half Marathon
Briefly

The RBC Brooklyn Half Marathon saw over 28,000 runners, including Tina Muir and Natalia Trevino Amaro from the NYRR Team for Climate. Participants fundraised for climate initiatives, blending sustainability with performance. Tina, a former elite runner, emphasized the link between a healthy planet and the accessibility of running. She highlighted the need for clean resources to ensure all runners can safely participate. Alongside her, Natalia, a first-time half-marathoner, showcased sustainable fashion by designing a skirt from runners' waste, emphasizing the message that clothing can communicate important statements on climate awareness.
Tina is also the author of the 2023 book Becoming a Sustainable Runner: A Guide to Running for Life, Community, and Planet .
Running "is an accessible sport compared to other things, but you know, we need those vital pieces to be able to do it safely, and not everyone has access to that."
