Grading each Miami Heat player halfway through season
"Skinny: After 25 games, we gave Adebayo an A- for his efforts early in the season. But he has dropped a whole letter grade since that point, averaging 14.0 points on 49.0 percent true shooting in his 14 games since. He is far from 100 percent healthy, but he's healthy enough to play, which means he needs to be better. His last two games were steps in the right direction on both ends. Grade: B-"
"Skinny: Herro's been limited to just 11 games this season, averaging 21.9 points on 49.7 percent shooting and 35.8 percent from 3-point range. He's still adjusting to the team's new offense, even though they have implemented more ball screens since his return to the lineup. He still has a bullseye on his chest defensively, but he's been a nice boost to the Heat, whose offensive process hasn't always been consistent. Grade: B"
The Miami Heat are 21-20 and hold sole possession of the No. 8 seed in the Eastern Conference at the season midpoint. Bam Adebayo's production has declined after an early strong start, averaging 14.0 points on 49.0 percent true shooting in his most recent 14 games while not yet fully healthy, earning a B-. Simone Fontecchio's shooting has dropped to 25.7 percent over his last 24 games, graded D+. Tyler Herro has averaged 21.9 points on 49.7 percent shooting across 11 games, graded B. Rookie Jakucionis has shown defensive growth and spot-up shooting potential, graded B-. Jaquez has emerged as a legitimate Sixth Man of the Year candidate.
