"That includes Jose Alvarado, who graduated from Christ the King High School in the class of 2017 and is coming home to New York to play for the Knicks. "He wasn't the most highly-suited kid in the world, but h e always had the toughness that he plays with," said Chirst the King Principal and Coach Joseph Arbitello told QNS."
"Nicknamed "Grand Theft Alvarado" for his defensive capabilities, Alvarado committed to Georgia Tech in 2016, where he played as a starter for the next four years. Most notably, Alvarado and the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets secured the schools first Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) title since the 90s, taking down Florida State which was led by future NBA All-Star Scottie Barnes."
Jose Alvarado, a 2017 Christ the King High School graduate, is joining the New York Knicks after the NBA's Feb. 5 trade deadline. Joseph Arbitello praised Alvarado's toughness and consistent game across high school, college, and the NBA. Alvarado recorded the school's first quadruple-double and earned the nickname "Grand Theft Alvarado" for his defense. He committed to Georgia Tech in 2016, helped win the school's first ACC title since the 1990s, and entered the NBA when drafted by the New Orleans Pelicans in 2021.
