LeBron seals win after Brooks antics earn ejection
"I just like to compete,"
"He's going to compete. I'm going to compete. We're going to get up in each other's face. Try not to go borderline with it. I don't really take it there. But we're just competing and did that almost all the way to the end of the game."
"I poke bears."
Dillon Brooks delivered a go-ahead 3-pointer with 12.2 seconds remaining but was assessed a second technical foul and ejected after chest-to-chest contact with LeBron James. LeBron made two free throws following a foul by Devin Booker with 3.0 seconds left and then blocked Grayson Allen's final attempt to clinch a 116-114 Lakers victory in Phoenix. James finished with 26 points, four assists, two steals, two blocks and eight turnovers. The confrontation reinforced a rivalry that began in the 2023 playoffs when Brooks called James "old" and said, "I poke bears."
