Peterson limited in return as Kansas falls at UCF
""I thought he looked pretty darn good," coach Bill Self said. "That's been a concern that his legs feel differently in the second half. A lot of that I think today is if I could have played him less in the first half, would he have been more available in the second half? And I think the answer is yes.""
""He is one of the best basketball players in college basketball," UCF coach Johnny Dawkins said. "When people are saying that, they are absolutely right. He is one of the best players I have seen in a number of years.""
Darryn Peterson returned to play but left with more than 10 minutes remaining because of persistent leg problems and limited minutes as part of a recovery precaution. He scored 23 of his 26 points in the first half after missing two recent games and earlier missing seven games with a hamstring injury. After about 23 minutes his legs began bothering him and the team sat him for the remainder of the game. Kansas managed only three points in the six minutes following his departure, fell behind by nine, rallied to tie, but ultimately lost 81-75 to UCF. Peterson has played five games this season, totaling 127 minutes and drawing high NBA draft expectations.
