Johnny Wilson, a 24-year-old second-year wide receiver for the Philadelphia Eagles, suffered a practice injury and was carted off the field. He sustained knee and ankle damage that require surgery and will miss the entire 2025 season. The Eagles selected Wilson in the sixth round of the 2024 NFL draft out of Florida State. As a rookie in 2024 he played 16 of 17 games with four starts, logging 34% of offensive snaps and 24% of special teams snaps, with five receptions for 38 yards and one touchdown. At six-foot-six, Wilson offers significant contested-catch ability and had been expected to take on a larger role in 2025 before the injury.
On Thursday afternoon, the defending Super Bowl champions were hit with some unfortunate injury news. The Philadelphia Eagles have lost a WR for the 2025 season. Additionally, Wilson played 24% of the team's special teams snaps. As a pass-catcher, Wilson had five receptions for 38 yards and one receiving touchdown. As a six-foot-six, Johnny Wilson has exceptional size for his posistion. That allows him to make dynamic contested catches, especially near the goal line.
