'I knew it was coming': Panthers' Rico Dowdle hitting his stride back home in Carolina
""That everybody in the NFL is making a big deal about it is really surprising us,""
""It was just a matter of waiting my turn and just making the most of the opportunities," he said. "But I think I've done well with that every time I've gone out there and showed that I can carry the load.""
Rico Dowdle, a 5-foot-11, 215-pound running back and 2020 undrafted free agent out of South Carolina, signed with the Carolina Panthers this offseason. Dowdle started the past two games after Chuba Hubbard suffered a calf injury in Week 4. Before starting, Dowdle had 83 rushing yards in four games. Over the last two games he has rushed for 389 yards, showcasing the talent Asheville locals expected from his A.C. Reynolds High School days. Dowdle attributes his breakthrough to waiting his turn and making the most of opportunities. The local community and his high school coach were unsurprised by his production.
