Winston plays both quarterback and wide receiver at Hoover High School and projects as a pass catcher. He caught 38 passes for 542 yards and three touchdowns as a junior, while adding five rushing scores. Florida State's 2026 class ranked No. 13 in ESPN's class rankings and includes 12 ESPN 300 commits, with notable defenders Izayia Williams and Chauncey Kennon and pass-catchers Xavier Tiller, Devin Carter, and Brandon Bennett. Florida State opened 2025 with a 31-17 win over Alabama after a 2-10 2024 season under coach Mike Norvell.
