"Bryce has shown flashes of greatness this year against high level competition,"
"As a team, we weren't as consistent as we want to be on a game-to-game basis, but that's part of what happens with a young team."
"Bryce did a great job this year, and I'm really excited about moving forward and still developing chemistry with our receivers and the pieces around him,"
"I just felt he had a lot more command out there this year, and really coming into his own and getting better every week, just attacking every day,"
"That's really all you can ask for from any player."
The Carolina Panthers exercised Bryce Young's fifth-year option, guaranteeing $26.5 million and extending his contract through the 2027 season while evaluating a long-term extension. Panthers' management noted improvements in Young's leadership, command, work ethic, and chemistry with receivers during his second NFL season. Young displayed pronounced inconsistency, recording a career-best 147.1 passer rating in a win over the Los Angeles Rams and a career-low Total QBR of 14.2 the previous week against the San Francisco 49ers. He followed a franchise-record 448-yard passing performance with a 124-yard outing and finished the regular season with a QBR of 47.7, ranked 22nd among qualified quarterbacks. Carolina failed to win back-to-back games after mid-October and ended the campaign with three straight losses, including a 34-31 defeat in the NFC wild card round.
