Rob Gronkowski teases signing a one-day contract to retire as a Patriot

Rob Gronkowski plans to sign a one-day contract to officially retire as a member of the New England Patriots. He spoke at the unveiling of the "Gronk Playground" on the Esplanade and credited Susan Hurley with initiating the idea. Patriots owner Robert Kraft gave his approval for the plan. Gronkowski spent nine seasons with the Patriots and won three Super Bowl titles there before finishing his career with two seasons in Tampa Bay and another Super Bowl. He became emotional while discussing what the Patriots and the market mean to him. Timing for the one-day contract remains undecided.
"Come back for a day, a weekend, whatever it is. So we'll make it happen, and it'll be a really, really cool moment," Gronkowski told reporters. "It's going to happen. We just don't know when."
