Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara will host the next Super Bowl with a substantial security plan involving military personnel and heavy law enforcement presence. Venue workers and security staff will undergo rigorous background checks, fingerprinting, and personal-information collection. The NFL is implementing facial-recognition technology described as authentication. Security increases followed two violent incidents: a Midtown Manhattan intruder who killed three people and himself and a pickup-truck attack in New Orleans that killed 14 and injured 57.
