"I heard it was a big game in the local area, I think [it was] two state champions playing," Maye said. "Just trying to support. It brings me back to those days when I was playing." "Maye took time to pose for photos while he was on the sideline. The Patriots quarterback was wearing a hooded sweatshirt with the number "5" on it. Maye wasn't the only Boston sports celebrity at the game. Celtics coach Joe Mazzulla, whose stepson Michael Harden plays linebacker for Xaverian, was also at the game. Xaverian has won back-to-back Division I MIAA State Championships. Catholic Memorial was the top-ranked team in Division II heading into the game."
Drake Maye attended a Friday-night high school rivalry between Catholic Memorial and Xaverian in Westwood, saying he wanted to support and that it reminded him of his playing days. Xaverian won 25-22 on a 23-yard field goal as time expired, marking the Hawks' first victory over the Knights since 2018. Maye posed for sideline photos wearing a hooded sweatshirt with number 5. Celtics coach Joe Mazzulla also attended. Xaverian entered as back-to-back Division I champions; Catholic Memorial was top-ranked in Division II. After the game, Maye completed 21 of 23 passes with two touchdowns, setting the franchise single-game regular-season completion percentage as the Patriots won 31-13.
