Why Your Team Sucks 2025: Los Angeles Chargers | Defector
Briefly

The Los Angeles Chargers finished 11-6 in 2024 after a surprising 7-3 start. Preseason expectations were low, yet the team beat teams projected as easy wins, including the Panthers, Saints, Browns, and Titans. The Chargers suffered notable losses: giving up doubled passing yards to Justin Fields in a defeat to Pittsburgh, blowing a 10-0 lead against Kansas City, and losing late to an underwhelming Arizona team. The back half featured narrow defeats, including a doinked field goal versus the Chiefs and a 27-0 second-half collapse against Tampa Bay. The Chargers entered the playoffs against a troubled Houston team.
Now, this was supposed to be one of the worst rosters in football a year ago, but try telling that to all of the dragons these men slayed in the first half of the season. Goliaths like the Panthers, Saints, Browns, and Titans all had this team marked as an easy win on the schedule. But ICH DON'T THINK SO! LA beat all of those teams, sometimes scoring as many as 27 points in doing so!
Now sure, the Chargers may have also gotten doubled up in passing yardage by Justin Fields in a loss to Pittsburgh ... and blown a 10-0 lead in a loss to Kansas City ... and gotten beat at the gun by a truly pathetic Arizona team. But a 7-3 start to the season speaks for itself. As Bill Parcells once said, "You are what your records says you-OH SHIT THIS RESTAURANT HAS FRENCH DIP!"
