Alex Ovechkin scores between-the-legs breakaway goal, nets hat trick in Pavel Datsyuk's farewell 'Magic Game'

Taking the ice with some of the biggest names in Russian hockey, Ovechkin netted a hat trick in the exhibition held at Yekaterinburg's UMMC Arena - home of the KHL's HC Avtomobilist. Ovechkin collected points on four of Team Red's first seven goals of the game."

"Ovi's first tally came as he flew down the left wing with a huge head of steam. He finished his power move to the net with a hard shot to the top of the net to give Team Red its first lead of the game, 3-2. His second goal was one for the highlight reels. After gathering in a stretch pass from Datsyuk in stride, Ovechkin put the puck between his legs and shot, beating goaltender Vasily Koshechkin easily."

"Shortly after, Ovechkin completed his hat trick after an unbelievable passing play between himself, Datsyuk, and Kovalchuk - three of the greatest Russian hockey players of all-time. The Magic Man sent a no-look pass to Ovechkin wide open in the slot. Instead of shooting, Ovi dished to Kovalchuk. The former Caps forward then proceeded to give the puck back to The Great 8 for a layup."

He assisted on an Ilya Kovalchuk goal early, then converted a power move to the net for a 3-2 lead. Ovechkin's second goal came after a stretch pass from Datsyuk and a between-the-legs finish. He completed the hat trick on a sequence involving Datsyuk and Kovalchuk that ended with a layup. Team Red won 13-8, with additional goals from Alex Semin and Sergei Fedorov.
