"It's clearly fake because it's not my voice and not my lips moving. I'm not in control of any of those accounts. ... I know that those words would never come out of my mouth. I would never say that. That's not who I am."
"I've been seeing stuff that people think it's me, but if you watch the video, that's not my voice and something that I never say. I don't really know how that kind of took a storm on its own when I play here and give everything I have here."
Brady Tkachuk, captain of the Ottawa Senators, publicly rejected a doctored TikTok video shared by the White House containing fabricated audio of him insulting Canadians as "maple syrup eating" expletives. The video was labeled as containing AI-generated media. Tkachuk emphasized the audio was not his voice and the words would never come from him. He also denied being the voice heard shouting "close the northern border" during Team USA's celebratory call with President Trump following the men's Olympic hockey gold medal victory over Canada. The 26-year-old Arizona native, who has played his entire NHL career in Canada, expressed frustration that misinformation spread despite his commitment to the country.
