The Capitals dominated the opening period and scored first on a goal by Ethen Frank. Detroit responded in the second period with two quick goals, one on the power play, to seize a one-goal lead. Ethen Frank tied the game in the third with his second goal, forcing overtime. Detroit secured the extra point when Mo Seider scored the overtime game-winner. Ethen Frank earned Capitals Player of the Game honors with a two-goal performance.
