The writing was on the wall when the Bears recalled Mitch Gibson from the ECHL's South Carolina Stingrays on Saturday and the team started Garin Bjorklund against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins on Saturday, a 4-1 loss. Stevenson did not dress in the game."

Lindgren was unable to suit up against the Anaheim Ducks on Friday, necessitating the emergency signing of retired ECHL goaltender Parker Milner to a PTO so he could serve as a backup that night. The Washington Capitals recalled forward Bogdan Trineyev and goaltender Clay Stevenson ahead of the game against the Columbus Blue Jackets. Trineyev had been with the team on a previous recall from November 26 through December 3 but did not appear in any games. Stevenson is with the Capitals for the first time this season after making his NHL debut last April. The recalls respond to upper-body injuries to Ryan Leonard and Charlie Lindgren; Lindgren missed the Anaheim game and required an emergency backup signing. Leonard left after a blindside hit following his first four-point NHL game.
