"The Caps faced a tough task tonight, taking on a team that has picked up the majority of their wins on the season on the road - nine of their ten coming into this one, in fact. Which is...good. So the hometown team would need to bring their "A" game to not only take on the best road team in the league but also start to climb out of their funk."
"Plus: Great to see former King Matt Roy get the Caps on the board early, picking up his first goal since March 27 (and just his fourth as a Cap). Now, what Roy was doing all alone in front of the net is and will likely remain a mystery...but we're not complaining. Minus: There wasn't a lot to dislike about this one, but another night where they give up a power play goal and fail to score on their own man advantage is never good."
The Washington Capitals defeated the Los Angeles Kings 2-1, earning an important two points behind timely scoring and a shutdown defensive effort. The Kings had nine of their ten wins on the road entering the game, making the win notable against one of the best road teams. Matt Roy opened scoring early with his first goal since March 27, his fourth as a Capital. The Capitals allowed a power-play goal and failed to convert their lone power-play opportunity, while the Kings had three. Charlie Lindgren delivered an excellent goaltending performance, shaking off recent struggles to post the game's key saves.
