Capitals, well-rested and back on home ice, set to meet Hurricanes
""It's a good test for us," Capitals Coach Spencer Carbery said Wednesday. "We know how good they've been, all the things they do at a really high level, how they make it difficult on you. It should be a good test for us at home.""
""I'm not going to go back into the details of the hit. Didn't like the hit," Carbery said Thursday. "But to miss four weeks, I think that's - I would say I would love for him to miss zero weeks, but four weeks, given how violent the hit was, I guess that's okay.""
Washington hosts Carolina at Capital One Arena on Thursday as the top two Eastern Conference teams meet. Washington has a 10-1-2 run over its last 13 games and leads the conference with 39 points and an 18-9-3 record. Carolina has played one fewer game and sits second with 38 points at 18-9-2. Washington and Carolina met four times this season and in a five-game second-round playoff series last May; Washington won the first game of the current season series 4-1 at Lenovo Center. Ryan Leonard will miss three to four weeks after sustaining a shoulder injury on a hit by Jacob Trouba; Leonard also has facial injuries but no head injury. Ethen Frank has earned an elevated role in Leonard's absence.
