Sharks pick remembers coach who first believed in him: 'I'm sure he's smiling up there'
Briefly

Josh Ravensbergen, a promising goalie, was drafted 30th overall by the San Jose Sharks, largely due to the encouragement he received from his former coach Sean Murray. Murray’s support gave Ravensbergen the confidence to pursue his hockey dreams. Despite being overlooked in previous drafts, Ravensbergen's talent was recognized, making him one of the top goalies in this year's draft. His performance in the WHL showcased his skills, further solidifying the Sharks' decision to draft him, honoring the memory of Murray who passed away in 2023.
"He was kind of the first one who put that belief in my head. I remember he came up to me and said, 'How far do you want to go with this game? I believe you can play at a high level.'"
"That was really sad to hear that he passed. But I'm sure he's smiling up there right now."
