The announcement was made by Washington senior vice president and general manager Chris Patrick. Funk, 22, has officially been added to Hershey's roster after rehabbing with the Bears while being injured non-roster with the Capitals."
Zac Funk was activated from the Washington Capitals' injured non-roster and loaned to the AHL's Hershey Bears on November 29, 2025. He had been rehabbing with Hershey after skating in a non-contact jersey during Capitals training camp. Funk's final game last season was on February 21 with the ECHL's South Carolina Stingrays, when he absorbed a knee hit, was helped off without placing weight on the leg, and missed the remainder of the 2024-25 season. After turning pro, he recorded four points (2g, 2a) in 15 AHL games and nine points (3g, 6a) in 11 ECHL games. He signed a three-year entry-level contract with Washington on March 1, 2024 after leading the WHL with 67 goals for the Prince George Cougars.
