Chris Russo, ESPN contributor, criticized ABC for its handling of a Bill Belichick interview conducted by Michael Strahan. Russo described the interview as awkward and one of the worst he had seen, expressing disappointment that Belichick was not pressed on several key issues. He accused ABC of allowing Belichick to dictate the interview, which compromised journalistic integrity. Russo argued that Strahan, being a former player, was put in a difficult position and could not challenge Belichick effectively. The interview largely focused on football and Belichick's new book, avoiding contentious topics.
There's so many things you've got to ask him, and they asked him nothing. Oh my God, that was bad.
ABC gave carte blanche to Belichick. Bill, we want you on, tell us what questions you want asked. That is horrific. 100 percent.
That was a horrific job by a worthy news organization. Strahan's an ex-football player. No knock against Strahan, but that's an impossible situation.
For me, it's all about learning. I learn every day and I've learned so much being back in the game.
