The New England Patriots will report to their 2025 training camp with a roster featuring only 40 percent of last year's players. A total of 91 players, including international signing David Olajia, will be present. Under new head coach Mike Vrabel, the team has made major roster modifications, particularly affecting the offensive and defensive lines. Only six of 17 offensive linemen and four of 16 defensive linemen remain. Additionally, the coaching staff has changed significantly, with only five assistants retained from the 2024 season. The first practice is scheduled for Wednesday at 10:15 a.m. ET.
A total of 91 players, including recently signed international player David Olajia, will be in town by tonight. Only 40 percent of it - 36 players total - are still with the team on the eve of camp.
The Patriots under first-year head coach Mike Vrabel have made some drastic changes to the roster over the course of this year's offseason, most notably along the offensive and defensive lines as well as in the kicking game.
Of the 17 offensive linemen to enter the team's 2024 camp under then-HC Jerod Mayo, only six remain for a retention rate of 35.3 percent. The changes are even more drastic with a mere four of 16 defensive linemen (25%) still on New England's roster.
Change, of course, has been the theme of the offseason all over the organization. The depth chart looks vastly different across the board, and so does the coaching staff: with Vrabel now leading the team, only five assistant coaches were retained from 2024.
