"Authorities said the violence stemmed from a fight between both 12-year-olds just before 3 p.m. inside Betsy Head Park, near Thomas S. Boyland Street and Dumont Avenue in Brownsville. NYPD officers arrived to find the victim with a stab wound to his chest, and first responders took him to Brooklyn University Medical Center in critical but stable condition, according to officials."
"Police said they initially took two people into custody in connection with the incident: the 12-year-old suspect and a 9-year-old boy. Officials said they later released the younger boy to his parents after determining he was not directly involved in the stabbing. The 12-year-old was arrested in the 73rd Precinct, where the alleged assault took place. Police said they would not publicly identify him because he is a minor."
