Alternate side parking resumes weeks after snowstorm swept through NYC
"The Department of Transportations announced that alternate side parking regulations will start on Thursday, Feb. 19. If you don't move your car, you can get a $65 ticket. This comes after the biggest snowstorm of the year and Bronxites are still dealing with the aftermath. Piles of snow were seen on every corner, even taking up parking spots and crosswalks."
"Due to this, drivers were not required to move their vehicles but today that all changes. The Department of Sanitation says they're sending out 100 pickup truck plows to get rid of the remaining snow saying, "It will make a huge difference in the cleanliness of every block." News 12 spoke with Moses who came outside as he was getting a ticket. He says he didn't know the regulations started today."
The Department of Transportation announced alternate side parking regulations resume on Thursday, Feb. 19. Vehicles left on streets after the change are subject to $65 tickets. The restart follows the largest snowstorm of the year, with piles of snow occupying corners, parking spaces, and crosswalks across the Bronx. Drivers were temporarily not required to move vehicles during the storm, but enforcement has resumed as melt reduces obstructions. The Department of Sanitation is deploying 100 pickup-truck plows to remove remaining snow and improve block cleanliness. Residents receiving tickets noted confusion about the timing. Residents with questions can call 311.
