On Nov. 7 at about 6:30 p.m., a 24-year-old man was assaulted near 9971 Shore Road beneath the Verrazzano Narrows Bridge in Bay Ridge. The attacker approached while the victim sat on a park bench, asked for directions, then grabbed and pulled him to a nearby tree. The assailant choked the victim, forced him to perform a sex act, and allegedly attempted a forcible rape that was unsuccessful. The perpetrator threatened the victim with a gun when the victim tried to flee and then ran from the scene. The incident was reported to the 68th Precinct and the victim was taken to a hospital in stable condition. The precinct has recorded 13 rape cases year-to-date through Nov. 9, matching last year.
