"Two individuals, Ahuva Katzin and Yitzchok Sklar, have been charged in connection with a fentanyl-related incident that resulted in the death of a four-year-old in Brooklyn. According to the U.S. Attorney's Office, the pair were indicted for conspiracy to distribute narcotics resulting in death. The charges stem from an incident on March 4, 2025, in which the child, Sklar's son, was exposed to fentanyl and para-fluorofentanyl that the defendants are alleged to have distributed."
"Following their arrest, Sklar is scheduled to appear before U.S. Magistrate Judge Gabriel W. Gorenstein, while Katzin is expected to appear tomorrow before U.S. Magistrate Judge Robyn F. Tarnofsky. United States Attorney Jay Clayton noted that the defendants allegedly continued distributing fentanyl and other drugs after the child's death. Special Agent in Charge of the DEA's New York Task Force Division, Christopher Roberts, highlighted the risks posed by fentanyl, particularly to children."
"The indictment from the U.S. Attorney's Office states that Katzin and Sklar were involved in narcotics distribution from at least 2023 to 2025. On the day of the child's poisoning, surveillance footage reportedly shows Sklar leaving the child in their Brooklyn apartment and attempting to dispose of narcotics in a rented vehicle nearby. Christopher Roberts of the DEA noted the ongoing efforts to address fentanyl trafficking and enforce the law in such cases."
Katzin and Sklar were indicted on charges of conspiracy to distribute narcotics resulting in death after a four-year-old child — Sklar's son — was exposed to fentanyl and para-fluorofentanyl on March 4, 2025. Surveillance footage reportedly shows Sklar leaving the child in a Brooklyn apartment and attempting to dispose of narcotics in a rented vehicle. Authorities allege the defendants continued distributing fentanyl and other drugs after the child's death. The NYPD coordinated the investigation with the DEA and the U.S. Attorney's Office. Both defendants, ages 33 and 34, face a mandatory minimum sentence of 20 years and up to life in prison.
