Luigi Mangione faces multi-day Manhattan hearings to determine admissibility of evidence, witness identifications, and statements in the slaying of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson. State Supreme Court Justice Gregory Carro will hear more than 20 witnesses and rule on contested items recovered during and after Mangione's arrest in Pennsylvania following a nationwide manhunt. Prosecutors seek to use a notebook described by law enforcement as a manifesto, notes, and other writings. Defense lawyers contend the writings were seized in a warrantless search violating legal protections and seek to bar them. Mangione, 26, has pleaded not guilty to second-degree murder and related charges.
