At around 10:30 a.m. ET, a woman was found unresponsive on a walkway in the Coney Island area of Brooklyn, the New York City Police Department said Monday. Authorities determined that the pedestrian was struck in the head by a solar panel."
"On Sunday afternoon, New York City Department of Buildings (DOB) inspectors were called to the scene to investigate "reports of a partial collapse of a solar panel installation at an outdoor parking lot," the NYC DOB told NBC News on Monday. "Our inspectors observed that a 41" x 87" solar panel had become disconnected from the steel carport structure which is standing overhead the outdoor parking lot," the DOB said."

Inspectors observed that a 41" x 87" panel had disconnected from the steel carport structure and was taken by the wind about 20 feet, striking a pedestrian. The DOB coordinated with the MTA to close a nearby Ocean Parkway subway entrance amid ongoing strong winds and coastal flooding warnings.
