Finally: partial service is resuming on the NYC Ferry today
"After two icy weeks off the water, NYC Ferry is easing back into service. Starting today, February 11, the system will resume a modified version of the Rockaway-Soundview route. It's not a full comeback just yet, but for commuters who've been stuck on subways and buses since service shut down due to ice on January 27, it's a welcome sight."
"NYC Ferry suspended service last week as frigid temperatures led to a buildup of ice in the East River, Hudson River and New York Harbor. Now, with daytime highs finally creeping above freezing, conditions are slowly improving. According to the ferry operator, several landings along the western edge of the East River and in the Bronx have become consistently clear enough to operate safely."
NYC Ferry is restarting a modified Rockaway–Soundview route beginning February 11, with stops at Ferry Point Park, Soundview, East 90th Street, East 34th Street, Stuyvesant Cove and Wall Street/Pier 11. Landings serving Sunset Park and Rockaway remain closed due to shifting ice. Service was suspended on January 27 after ice built up in the East River, Hudson River and New York Harbor. Daytime temperatures edging above freezing have cleared several landings along the western East River and Bronx for safe operation. Lingering ice may still cause delays. East 34th Street schedule adjustments due to marine construction will remain through February 20. The Ferry Point Park shuttle remains out of service but is expected to return soon, and the operator is monitoring landings daily for further reopenings.
