George Conway, ex-husband of top Trump aide Kellyanne, runs for House in New York-as a Democrat | Fortune
"It was like, huh, it's an open seat. This isn't crazy. I should think about this,"
"This is no ordinary time. And I will not be an ordinary member of Congress,"
"this is a moment where we need people who can fight Trump the way he needs to be battled."
George Conway launched a campaign for a U.S. House seat in Manhattan after deciding the open seat following Rep. Jerry Nadler's retirement was a viable opportunity. Conway practiced law in New York City, recently lived in Bethesda, Maryland, and relocated back to Manhattan a few weeks ago. He was motivated by a friend's frustration over some Democrats' vote to end last year's government shutdown and chose not to challenge Rep. Jamie Raskin. Conway, 62, is a former Republican and Lincoln Project co-founder who emphasized using his legal experience to continue fighting Trump from Congress while not seeking a career in politics.
