A 58-year-old woman was killed Wednesday afternoon in Jamaica, Queens after being struck by a dark-colored sedan while crossing Jamaica Avenue near a Social Security Administration building. The driver, traveling westbound, did not remain at the scene. The victim was transported to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center where she was pronounced dead. Police have not yet identified the victim as they notify family members. The NYPD continues investigating the hit-and-run incident with no arrests made. Despite this fatality, citywide traffic deaths have decreased more than 15% through March 8 compared to the previous year.
