These events, which began during the COVID-19 pandemic, last all night and often go unchecked by law enforcement. Locals express frustration, stating that the noise is unbearable and negatively impacts their quality of life. As calls for help to the city go unanswered, many residents feel forgotten and helpless against a growing nuisance prevalent in their communities.
"It sounds like a missile being launched at your home from all directions," said Astoria resident Jay Cane, 40. "You know it will be a long night when the windows are vibrating."
