Rapper Sheff G, legal name Michael Williams, was sentenced to five years in prison and five years of supervised release after reaching a plea deal and pleading guilty to two counts of attempted murder and a conspiracy charge. He admitted using earnings from his music career to fuel gang violence connected to long-term investigations into Brooklyn shootings. More than 30 alleged members of the 8 Trey Crips and 9 Ways gangs were indicted; 23 pleaded guilty and seven cases remain pending. Rapper Tegan Chambers, known as Sleepy Hallow, pleaded guilty to a conspiracy count and received a one-year sentence.
""This defendant had talent and opportunity, but chose to use them to fuel violence instead of building a better future," Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez said after the sentencing."
""As Sheff G said: 'They always whisper your accomplishments and shout your failures.'" campaign spokesman Steven Cheung responded."
