"A little bit of that white stuff doesn't slow down New York City. Thank you to @NYCSanitation, @nycemergencymgmt, and all our agencies who have been working hard before and during this storm. Make sure you do your part and shovel your sidewalk to keep our city moving safely!"
Heavy winter weather across the northeastern United States produced widespread travel disruption, with around 1,500 flights canceled on Friday night and about 14,000 domestic services canceled nationwide by mid-morning Saturday. Up to six inches of snow fell in parts of New York City, and all three major NYC airports posted warnings. Residents were urged to avoid travel and stay off treacherous roads while crews worked to clear streets. New York and New Jersey declared states of emergency. Visitors reported unexpected cold conditions, and officials noted the last comparable heavy snowfall was eight inches in 2022.
