NYC building super killed in scuffle with package thief was Kosovo war refugee and doting dad of three young kids, family says
"He cares so much about everyone here. He had a big heart. He was just unbelievable."
"They need to be put away. They need to make an example out of him."
"I would like to inform all friends and relatives that suddenly a few moments ago my son, brother, father and our dearest Burim Havolli passed away,"
Burim Havolli, 41, was beaten to death while defending his Ditmas Park building amid recent package thefts and outside troublemakers. He was a Kosovo war refugee and father of three. Neighbors and relatives described him as devoted, protective, and having a big heart. A 30-year-old suspect was arrested shortly after the assault and has at least three prior arrests, including burglary and assault charges. Possible charges in Havolli’s death remain pending and could depend on autopsy results. Funeral services are planned in Kosovo. Family members and tenants called for conviction and punishment for the assailant.
