"During the race, the Verrazzano Bridge will be closed to all non-emergency traffic between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. Sunday. The upper level of the span will close in both directions as of 11 p.m. Saturday night. The Staten Island Ferry is the best way for NYC Marathon Runners to reach the starting line.NYC DOT The MTA will also divert buses away from the marathon route while streets are closed for the race. Fifty-five thousand runners will run the 26.2-mile 2025 TCS NYC Marathon across all five boroughs on Sunday. Runners headed to the Staten Island starting line are advised to take the Staten Island Ferry; recommended Manhattan access points are the 1 train to South Ferry, the N/Q/R trains to Whitehall Street, or the 4 train to Bowling Green. Special shuttle buses at St. George Ferry Terminal will carry runners to School Road and Bay Street near the start. The Verrazzano Bridge will be closed to non-emergency traffic from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, with the upper level closing Saturday night at 11 p.m. MTA buses will be diverted and mta.info lists service changes. Multiple Brooklyn streets along the course will be closed during the race.
