September marks the start of the school year and a concentrated effort to educate nearly one million students across five boroughs. The mayor overcame childhood dyslexia and economic hardship, attributing success to public schools and appropriate early support. The administration implements a 360-degree, whole-child education approach from birth through postgraduation. Universal dyslexia screenings were instituted to identify students early. Early childhood education was expanded to reach 150,000 children. Summer Youth Employment Program and Summer Rising enrollments were increased. Universal after-school programming and expanded FutureReadyNYC provide extracurricular, work experience, and college and career preparation opportunities.
