Patrick Brady, 42, an 11-year FDNY veteran, suffered a medical episode and fatal heart attack while battling a five-alarm blaze on the roof of 9407 Kings Highway in Brooklyn at around 9:30pm. He was treated at the scene and transported to Brookdale Hospital but died later that day. Four other workers and one civilian sustained minor injuries. Tributes described Brady as selfless and from a firefighting family, and Mayor Eric Adams and FDNY leadership expressed mourning. Colleagues carried his body draped in an American flag as hundreds of firefighters gathered to honor him.
