Veteran FDNY firefighter Patrick Brady dies battling all-hands blaze in Brooklyn
"He gave his life protecting this city that he loves and there is no sacrifice that is more selfless than the actions that took place this evening,"
"I want to express my deepest sympathy for Ms. Brady, his wife, and his family. This is a firefighter family. They have been dedicated to protecting the lives of New Yorkers. We will all cherish Patrick's memory. We realize how painful this is for the family and for the people of this city."
"Firefighter Brady died at a fire in Brownsville, Brooklyn, carrying out the greatest traditions of the FDNY,"
A fire erupted around 9:38 p.m. at a six-story apartment building on Kings Highway in Brownsville, Brooklyn. Firefighter Patrick Brady, 42, went into cardiac arrest while working on the roof during the blaze and was treated at the scene before being taken to Brookdale University Hospital Medical Center, where he died. Brady was an 11-year FDNY veteran. Four other firefighters and one civilian sustained minor injuries. Brady belonged to a multi-generational firefighting family, including brothers Jimmy and Brian, cousin Pete, and uncle Pete. The FDNY released an image of the Brady family in uniform. The death followed the Oct. 29 line-of-duty death of paramedic Salih Abdur Rahman.
