Kathy Hochul and mayoral candidates Eric Adams, Zohran Mamdani, Andrew Cuomo, and Curtis Sliwa."
Hundreds of thousands of revelers lined Eastern Parkway on Sept. 1 for the 58th West Indian Day Parade under the theme "Vive Le Carnivale." The celebration featured floats, dancers, marching bands, and appearances by Gov. Kathy Hochul and several mayoral candidates. At the West Indian Day Carnival Association Breakfast, Hochul pledged to embrace Caribbean culture, support trade relationships, and send teams from Empire State Development to the islands to provide funding and resources. The parade, running from Utica Avenue to Grand Army Plaza, capped NY Carnival festivities that began Aug. 28 and highlighted Caribbean culture, arts, food, history, and traditions.
