An intense blizzard is forecast for the tri-state area, with some locations expected to receive more than a foot of snow by Monday morning. Officials in New York and New Jersey warned that travel could become difficult or unsafe and advised people to stay home if possible. New York City suspended alternate side parking and shifted most subway service to local operation while suspending weekend road and infrastructure projects. Bus service will be adjusted based on road conditions. Long Island Rail Road will run a Sunday schedule with possible evening branch modifications; Metro-North was normal Sunday but will operate hourly trains Monday.
