A stronger Stroud? Texans QB working to transform his body in offseason
Briefly

C.J. Stroud is concentrating on body transformation during the offseason as he approaches his third year in the NFL. He is committed to losing body fat and enhancing his speed and strength. Last year, he experienced a decline in performance with 3,727 passing yards and 20 touchdowns, following a successful rookie season. This offseason training left him with some shoulder soreness, but he believes the work was necessary. Texans coach DeMeco Ryans and new offensive coordinator Nick Caley aim to improve overall team performance moving forward.
I've been working really hard on getting my body right -- losing body fat, trying to be faster, stronger. And it went really well. ... [Working] pocket mobility, running out of the pocket, throwing the rock. Everything kind of works hand in hand.
There's always a risk to working hard, so it was a great offseason. I think I got that done.
I had 3,727 passing yards and 20 touchdowns in Year 2 after being named the Offensive Rookie of the Year and a Pro Bowler in a season where I had 4,108 passing yards and 23 touchdowns.
Coach DeMeco Ryans hopes to see improvement under new offensive coordinator Nick Caley to help them 'get over the hump'.
